Late-Life Diagnoses

I realised what was going on in my 50s when I found myself living amongst a few people diagnosed with Asperger’s. They couldn’t believe that I didn’t know that I was too as there was so much similarity it was startling.

I did start to seek an official diagnoses but gave up as it seemed too much of an uphill struggle to be told something that I was already aware of.

it certainly explains a lot about my early years being alone most of the time not fitting in, missing the signs and signals, just not understanding what was going on and yet being affected by the others around me assuming that I was seeing things just like they were. That was probably the hardest part of it.
