So maybe something you tried to do didn’t turn out the way you expected.
You didn’t get that new client, or you didn’t get the promotion you wanted,
or you didn't play that piece of music *perfectly*.

Should you tell yourself "I failed"?
If you tell yourself that you failed, end of story, you’re being unfair to yourself.

What to say instead:
“This attempt didn’t work.”

Remember that there will be other opportunities.
