Just completed Asperger's assessment

I'm happy for you! I'm still waiting to be contacted by my assessor. I don't know how long the waiting list is. And I hope your report comes back with official confirmation of you as an aspie.

Hello
Just completed asperger's video assessment, nice lady spent hours on me.
I asked if she thought I had Asperger's and she said it's likely, she has to write up her report.
This is good news for me if so, not bad news.
It explains a lot.
I know people are happy to self diagnose and have their own reasons which is good.
I just wanted to know if the NHS thinks I am an Aspie.
hoping all goes well Gift2humanity

I am from the uk, but have lived in France for nearly 20 years now and was diagnosed here, where it is virtually impossible to get a diagnosis and especially for females on the spectrum, but it happend rapidly and even a neuro psychologist said that it is very rare to get an appointment so soon with the expert in autism.

When she tested me, she said my results were typically those on the spectrum and she was lovely to me as well.

It is so encouraging, isn't it, when you believe something strongly and then, have a confirmation?

I will.
PS typical me, forgot to like/agree/friendly etc each reply, that's lack of reciprocity, do it often, don't think to return good deeds done to me.
So do I, I've worried about it sometimes, I know where it is on the list of worries,p.s I saw your friendly yesterday !,hope your not menopausal yet ,forgetting is taken to a new level.

I don't think it's especially females, I think therapists are catching up!!!! the NHS (UK has a different not necessarily better attitude about autism)is no quicker, let's face it the oldest person to be diagnosed was a man.
Wish I'd believed strongly it was autism had no clue it could be a female, but yet here iam !but like me Ha Shem(G-d) knew about you,did you never get any kind of message that you were right,I got an open vision 20 years ago ,which being me didn't recognise.

I hope you do get a blue badge. Buses would save me a fortune in taxi fares, but I would feel greedy asking for a bus pass, dunno if espies get them, if they don't well, that will have to be ok.
Apparently you can apply for a bus pass as well ,but in the category you must say autism, I mistakenly said trouble with walking ,now they want an assessment,oh G-d!!!! tried to change it ,but the system wasn't working.
If you apply have a good photo! it drove me nuts trying to get a photo last night,it might !cost £10 which is refunded if you fail the test.

Hi wouldn't I be lying if I said autism?
I am asperger's not classic autism.
I don't get out because of depression caused by non aspie circumstances.
Yikes you need a photo, I am totally housebound.
It would be good to be able to get on a bus to places accessibly by bus though like GP surgery.

Nice to hear you completed your assessment.
So the NHS is still diagnosing asperger's? I thought the asperger's diagnosis had been changed to ASD or high functioning autism?
Will be interesting to hear what support they offer you!

Dunno how it will be worded on my letter, the lady said highly likely when I asked about aspergers.
On the letter in 2015 saying I didnt have it, it was called Autism Spectrum Condition

Oh, so you had an assessment in 2015 also? They gave you a letter saying you didn't have it?

Actually the therapist who gave me the official diagnosis, said that it is rare for a female to be diagnosed, but naturally it does happen, since I am a female lol

Asperger's syndrome is Autism !it's classified as ASD1!

You are thinking the way! I did !I couldn't be autistic !it's boys !with what was called Kanners Autism , that one is called ASD 3.

In the UK a therapist might say the name of Hans Asperger! but the classifications are now under ASD (Autism spectrum disorder),Autism is not considered to be linear there are even conditions that come under ASD but the psychiatric/physical names aren't Autism, this is one that is still autism but slightly less so, called PDD-NOS,it's still genetic not a mental illness.

Someone could look like it but it's not autism, probably very rare!!!!.
If you think of the classic case of a little girl who was basically imprisoned until early teens ,she would present as Autism but !it was lack of socialisation ,psychiatry doesn't always have the exact answer, if they didn't say a name they were not convinced at the time of ASD2&3,ASD1 in women is misdiagnosed a lot therapists are stuck in boys with Autism like @Suzanne said .
There were no mass diagnosis of ASD1 until 1991,there is still a backlog ,I'm only five years ahead of you.
Lorna Wing(UK) now deceased noticed the signs in her daughter,I'm not as shocked that I was diagnosed I was for a few years.
The DSM might !!!!!have info! if you could afford it.

So he did say it ,it's like I.B.S its only called syndrome, because they don't know why or how it happens ,I don't know how many conditions come under the umbrella of Autism?

Blimey sounds quite complicated. Wording stuff is hard for me, I just don't want to mislead them into thinking I have classic autism.
I thought Asperger's was high functioning autism.
We use the ICD-10 her in the UK for the diagnostic criteria.
I think the ICD-11 is either coming in use or is in use, not sure.
