Is there such a thing as "Intellectual stimming"?

I don't know if it is 'stim' per se, but I have always played mental scripts and games and frequently the same ones over and over. When I want to sleep I play a mental script, a story I write from the beginning over and over night after night with little variation. I will drift off often in the opening section before ever getting too something new. If not my mind will head off in some other direction. I have thought of it as a relaxation technique.

Not at all.
I have no interest in controlling ppl or situations.
"To each their own."
Other ppl's reactions are essentially irrelevant to me.
Appreciation is simply a bonus.

I was on another website where ppl used to complain a lot about my joking/satire.
My attitude was: "Why don't you just skip over my posts or block me?"
It was the ppl complaining who wanted control over ME.

BTW, Some of the ppl on that site had no understanding of satire.
In a way, it was quite amusing.
I’ll take a chance responding here. As I have mentioned, for me humor was the practical solution to people thinking the real me was cranky or mean. Decades later, it is a learned/conditioned response. Even on this autism forum, I have frequently been slashed for using humor, been notified repeatedly that people don’t share my humor.

Yeah; rather than just pass it by, many people are moved from deep within to comment. Some of the unfunniest people on the planet.

Absolutely such thing as mental stimming. I used to repeat certain images / mantras in my head over and over. Not negative.

Then my physical stimming went way up. Then I noticed there's ... nothing in my head anymore.

Nice and quiet, and frees up a lot of bandwidth to engage with my family and the world. Albeit in a much weirder manner.

Initially, on the internet, humour was a self-defence mechanism due to constantly being misrepresented/slandered.
I figured if I established a history of jest, these malignant ppl wouldn't have a base/platform to stand on when they tried to take my comments out of context.

Regardless, there has always been an inherent desire in me to stim through humour.

Half of my "jokes" I delete straight away lol
Good. More "bandwidth" for me.
Remember:

Never thought of it as stimming before, but I’ll be thinking of this.
