Xenocity

Too WEIRD for the Weird...
Any moment now Apple with drop iOS 9 to the public and we can finally rid ourselves of 8 with joy (it was unusually unstable for an Apple OS).

All reviews and beta testers are claiming it is really stable update with plenty of tweaks and new features.

Tweaks:

  • New OS font
  • Better system performance
  • Better battery life on most devices
  • More stuff for health app
  • Better keyboard
  • Better integration of iCloud and Photo
  • Buttons were also tweaked
  • Many devices will see space freed up from the update

New Features:
  • New Apps short cut menu
  • Split Screen multitasking for iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro
  • New Notes that allows links, photos and others
  • Maps adds transit Maps for a few cities, more to come later
  • Passbook upgrades to wallet, gains features for Gift Cards and loyalty card too
  • 3D Touch support is fully implemented
  • Proactivity comes to Siri, context now understood
  • New and improved privacy
  • New and improved security
  • 6 digit passcodes (up from 4 digits in previous iOS)
  • Discover card joins Apple Pay (with 10% back for purchases using Apple Pay)
  • News app replaces the much hated Newsstand app
  • News in News app, is formatted for your iOS device for easy reading, including lots of sites and publications (looking forward to this personally)
  • New way to view photos on your phone within the photo app
  • Other features not mentioned above
If you are running iOS 8, you can upgrade to iOS 9.

I just updated to iOS 9 this morning, and while the interface was a bit refreshing (new fonts, some improvements in the apps I have been using, etc.), it was a dissapointment they didn't port Siri and the multitasking functions in the iPad 2 (which I happen to use). Besides, nothing much significant has changed in the overall interface of the OS.

My verdict: not bad, but could have done more for iPad 2 and similar models.

Well the iPads that gained multitasking have at least 2GBs of RAM.

There is very little they could for the older iPads due to the hardware.
Though iOS 9 did make my iPhone 5s snappier and more stable.
I do really love the News app and the low battery feature (it's in the battery menu in system settings).

I haven't tried it on my mini yet (updated last night).
