Hi everyone!

I was recently diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (without intellectual impairment). Two of my nieces were also diagnosed this year and during my research about autism I began to suspect I might be autistic. (Aspergirls by Rudy Simone was very helpful.) I am still somewhat shocked that I was right and am currently figuring out how I feel about it, although I think I am adjusting well and see it as a positive thing.

Welcome! There's definitely lots of books on the topic, a lot more than there were 10-15 years ago, and I found them useful in my continuing journey of exploration.

Agreed. Beware though, as my current specialist commented a while ago "it's a whole industry", so pretty much everybody and their dog feels justified in publishing their beliefs and/or experiences these days! There's a lot of chaff among the wheat, to use a metaphor.

Hi and welcome, I hope that you enjoy it here. It takes a while to process and find out about this aspect of oneself, however, remember that you are who you have always been, just clearer about an aspect of yourself and it's causes and effects. In my generation we didn't get diagnosed, and indeed women and girls still often don't.

Yes I found Rudy Simones book helpful, also a number of other books published by Jessica Kingsley publishers by and about women and girls with autism.

Hi and Welcome @Trisha N

This is a good place to come and explore. You might try to read some of the threads by other folk who are newly diagnosed
