This thought experiment by Alan Watts was defiantly an obsession of mine for many years. When I was in graduate school I fell ill for a fairly long period of time. I watched a lot of TV as I was unable to do much else. The campus tv station used to play an old black and white show that was about 10 hours long divided up into 5 2 hour segments. Much later I found a few talks by Watts on youtube. It wasn't until I saw a black and white picture of a young Alan Watts on a youtube video that I realized that they were the same person.
