I have been sick too often lately.

A few times a month, I have been vomiting immediately after I wake up. My boss told me I have been getting sick too often and that I need to get it under control. I am seeing my doctor this afternoon, but I am worried something serious may be going on with me, and if that is the case, I will soon be unemployed.

Throwing up from low blood sugar is a thing.

Hope doctor can listen to what you are saying.
 
A relative thinks I may have gallstones. That is a real possibility considering how several of my blood relatives have had their gallbladders removed for similar reasons.
 
I just got out of the doctor’s office. Apparently, I have severe GERD. I am now filling a prescription for Nexium and I was told to make even further changes to my diet, as well as not eating two hours before bed.
 
If you aren't already used to sleeping
at a sort of a slant (head and shoulders
somewhat elevated) it wouldn't hurt
to do that....
 
I used to have serious GERD as well. I remember when I was going to vocational school to learn computer hardware (2005-06) I would wake up, eat, vomit, then drag myself to school, only for Fahd (computer hardware instructor) to say "you look and sound awful, we're only doing lab today, go home and relax". Then repeat the next day. The culprit eventually turned out to be overconsumption of acidic foods such as fast food and chocolate. Cutting acidic, chemical stuffed junk foods out of my diet ultimately stopped it without medications. You are also an alcoholic, which also contributes. Sobriety will keep the GERD down.

Sorry to hear. I've had to deal with reflux since 1993. And yes, it's more restrictive than gout considerations. Mostly I have learned through pain as to what to stay away from. Mostly anything with animal fats and grease. You just learn to stay away from "trigger" foods. Fried chicken, steak...all the good stuff.

If I really want to try to eat restaurant food, I'll take Nexium first for at least four doses. (Restaurant food tends to have a higher fat content. Much more so than fast foods.)

I'm right there with you guys on the GERD team. But, the good news is it can get better. Do all the things - proton pump inhibitors, tons of water, avoid your trigger foods, no lying down after eating. Exercise helps me, too. I can tell straight away when I haven't been following the protocols. It always comes back. But, it goes away if I can get back on track.

I try to think of GERD as my helpful but strict teacher to be "healthy."
 
The good news is you know what causes it and you are still working. Tweaking your diet now? Hope the meds are doable and help.
