I feel like sharing this (SH2 talk)

☆Being my weird self~♡
There is alot of things I live about the original Silent Hill trilogy(SH1,2,&3). But neither 1 nor 3 have the experience of Silent Hill 2.

You know. For a long time. I have searched for any kinda music that exemplifies my hollow, apathetic feeling toward most everything. There has only ever been one song that matches that hollowness and apathy, that I have ever found.

Ordinary Vanity - Silent Hill 2

I feel like SH2 is a perfect representation of the human condition. At least in the darker aspects of mental health and how we cope. The monsters, environments, and music. The music being the most integral part of it all. Each song has it's own weight. Describing without words, nameless feelings that creep in the darkest recesses of our hearts and minds. Ordinary Vanity is one of those songs for me. Being a musical representation of my own emptiness inside that I feel daily. That depth of the apathy I feel. The darkness that surrounds me in mind and the chill that courses through my veins.

I do feel like James Sutherland and I are both going through something similar, as far as mental darkness and emotional unavailability. He has moments of vocal emotion, but is more often than not monotone. Deadpan. I am the same way.

Silent Hill 2 haunts me in that way. And I love it for that reason. It really makes you question alot of things. Not just about the character you play as. But you end up questioning yourself too. It really is fun, in my opinion, to imagine facing your darkest aspects in the form of monsters/psychological demons. Then making sense of it all.

There is something indescribably otherworldly, yet chillingly human, about all of Silent Hill 2.

I totally agree. 1 and 2. Just timeless games.

As with Resident Evil, I feel that they tried to shove that commercial viability down our throats, thus turning the genre into self parody, action heavy entries, with an emphasis on shooting. Like in RE4 and so on.

The Evil Within games, however. I thought in spite of that RE4/5 style, they were creepy and had a storyline that kept my interest. Unlike that nonsense where you have to run in a sandbox world or whatever, watching cutscenes play out. Those ones are rather boring to me.
