Oil based is only used for alkyds actually a polyester, solvent based vs water based more accurate Wagner easy to clean. Had mine for 30 years trick knowing how to use it. great for hobbyist, if a guy like me shows you how to use it.
Most use spray cans, like you did lots of runs, many coats. Wagner made from polyethylene plastic so inert to solvents. paint does not stick to it. rinse with solvent, or like me soap and water emulsify the residual resin.

With coil half the paint used no overspray. I would love to show retail paint suppliers how with a drawdown bar a leneta chart small oven they could show customers all you need is one coat, marketing. Buy cheap paint complain if took multiple coats to cover previous colour, One short demonstration customer for life.

One thing I learned from trying to learn guitar a note can be played on more than one string how they tune them I could hear the difference.

There is irony same side damaged . Yes definitely worked on relearning use of several limbs. And right hand carrying all the weight ,especially relearning to write . For quite awhile, not withstanding more permanent left hand/ forearm issues ,at the spinal cord . Will say leaned towards left side dominant . So took 30 years to finally agree with body
that left hand was not returning to primary active use. Thanks to unwavering efforts by left to be involved in daily activities. Minimal atrophy of left arm became publically evident .
Contributing to periodic entertainment when That side tried consistently to do things that involved dexterity . Even still when trying to do smaller detail work .And it normally require the left hand to hold something in place .While administering adjustments to a smaller object. Find myself fully expecting different grasping / manipulation ability of parts .
With left hand. Still being caught offguard mid project, With occassional gasps of frustration. Am very glad you have made the progress in the recovery from the stroke you have .

Never lost strength just feeling reduced write with right hand miss using both hands for everything, hammer paint brush screw driver sitting next to my older brother at dinner table as he was a lefty no changing hands to us fork and knife.

Sounds like you dialed in your Wagner.. Coil process, is applied in what manner or motion to the target to be painted . ?? or ? Yeah would be good to learn from a pro.
But after much experience with rattlecan acrylic or enamel/ acrylic enamel , got a technique down pat...constant movement in strokes. spot treatment to be avoided unless no choice , Then as light as possible let dry before next pass of course. Almost no runs in the last several years of coating things. For creations or reviving appearances . And inspite of being quick and easy in concept, Guess ,it is prolly universally known surface prep is a key factor imho. Have kinda factor in multiple coats with Rattlecan jobs unless it will most likely be NOT used in outdoor environments. Often have left paint projects for summer .
Rather than use a oven. Often, no oven big enough or, if used indoor, fumes bother my head. But am keeping a small toaster oven..lolz for smaller stuff. Often will try to come close to colour match if requiring to recoat .For myself. Using to have a small fine sand sand blaster ( without recovery) for some surface prep. Am used to the concept of primer coats prior to final one . Seen automotive body and paint work. And get discouraged at the Amount of primer coats to get to a more even surface.
That hearing of the tuning of the strings , to get the cords, I think maybe require ability to recognize pitch well . Am wondering if that is where the term being able to hear with perfect pitch comes from?

Yes the lovrly interaction between two actively equally dexterous hands is something of a loss to me as well. . Kind of a unrecognized blessing till it goes away.. Am feeling often unbalanced in the situation of only using right now as fominant hand . In school natural left handed calligrapher by eye, 12 styles of writing recorded. Now only 3 or 4 on right hand.

Regressing a bit could be age.

Spray can paint is limited to solvent quick flash, pigment loading for hiding so limiting Solvent based paint and oven unless you know what your doing not safe. Water based paint no issue just drive the water off, warm oven. Coil uses 20 or more ton coils un coiled painted recoiled. then slit for end use stamped or roll formed. A customer could come in post painted product, show them how prepaint then make part example your fridge or washing machine. Save them time and money, post paint may be 35 ft/min, coil line hundreds of ft/min. one customer did a job that would have taken a month we did in an hour, one coil. saved them million of dollars. working in lab was great for me familiar with both types of painting. If your a customer want to change treatment, substrate, resin system and/or colour. no issue try doing that on a custom process need to retool with treatment locked in, substrate locked in.

Brilliant ... very astute on your part .. rather devious on their part ...That experience of yours makes me want to smile a bit . Always nice when the bully gets reassigned to proper place in Time of knowledge based experience by the person they are attempting to victimize . and even though, right is right , late Father had reverse experience . He initialized a lawsuit against Northrop for patent infringement . For a product they were mass producing . Northrup out lawyered Dad , And then counter sued. Nearly cost him everything, Then with advise from some old Peers that he worked with at Locheed . While Skunkworks while still secret. He out manuevered them legally .His company subcontracted during the War to them have never known ,had I not taken over after he passed on. Yes , can imagine changing entire processes on a assembly line type of production..Could require some serious retooling processes . Or at least set up changes.
Once more , when you refer to coils , need to make sure am on the same page please .
Are you referring to a specific part . Or a actual process called coils . Pardon my lack of clarity and it is a little late in the day for me. Would have enjoyed seeing the process and requirement to change surface coatings .May I ask what you refer to by substrate .
A previous coating or actual physical surface of various materials ? [Dlightly fifferent topic]Had often wondered what it might take to re—enamel a kitchen sink or such? And whether it could be done successfully done without dismantling it from its installation .
