How Us ASPIE think

Organic versus metal coatings ..? causes me to think, is your son leaning towards surfaces that need conductivity.. btw ?
Am not very aware of the more precise differences in the coating , but can easily imagine the coatings of each would each have respectively different carriers if used in coating materials ?

Yes Zinc phosphate is used alone guns with oil. Better with coating like paint The trick is Zinc Phosphate is crystals change in ph cause crystals to form on surface Zn dissolved in phosphoric acid acid etches surface change in PH crystals form if you clean surface with caustic like detergent thin layer causes crystals to form on top of thin layer of soap leading to adhesion issues paint and crystals all peel off. Once you see it cannot unsee it

Either way I bought garden tractor years ago built loader for it painted loader Zinc phosphated prior to painting cleaned loader well rinsed well, sprayed zinc phosphate on with Wagner plastic spray gun, then covered with damp blanket for few hours to let crystals form. Crystals will form fast on Zinc. Real trick is get soap off even hint of caustic will cause adhesion issues. Heat lamp could cure some paints No lab to figure out PMT.or temperature tapes A Lot of galvanized is precoated so you cannot paint must remove this prior to painting. At plant If we got a raw galvanized coil we would flash coat on electro galvanizing line to remove this protective coating prior to treating and painting.

Sons business is coatings for medical instruments, nuclear parts injection molding machine parts. My expertise, automobiles, appliances and coil coating slit stamped formed after painting. Two types of painting pre paint and post paint. I'M familiar with both expertise in both rare.

kinda fascinating, in actuality , had no idea that there was anything but electro plating.
For galvanic surface coating . Very cool that your son made it into that industry ...Am curious, pardon naivete here, but does his work involve sputtering as a process as well?
Not to discount organic, but ,must say due to lack of knowledge on that topic again , Not sure what to ask,? unless it is a potentially ( a simpler process) based on my own speculation? It was purely accidental that I learned about the zinc phosphate used in firearms . You really caught my curiousity when you offered info about Your Lawn tractor
Due to a disappointing attempt to create a version of a backhoe attachment to a Craftsman , newer Lawn tractor aswell , After Changing rear rims and tires to 2 inch taller
Agricultural type. Back hoe , mid project had to be modded to merely a lift for a wide
blade . To act as a snow scaper . and moving large piles of leaves. Had a kit for a front mount blade from previous Lawn tractor . Which was self defeating , worked okay for snow. but needed more badly to move and mulch huge piles of a suburban heavily, very tall treed property . Build up of leaves in front was too much and went around back of the blade insulating its air cooled motor from cooling. And , wasnt fast enough to stop the
dry leaves from smoking up under its hood. cancelling the bearing life of the motor.
Resultingly turning it into a parts tractor. Back to 2nd craftman Lawn tractor ,the Use of the electric powered linear activator to operate lift arm on the backhoe . Not sure the activator was up to the task of downward pressure to actually dig anything. It was it previous front mounted blade that was attached to bottom of the backhoe arm, that moved leaves very nicely. as it drove through the leaves .And snow as well. It was that
mechanical arm attachment that I previously described as recieving the treatment that
was done. If you do not mind and have the patience . If you might share basic highlights of the organic process of plating ? or not , ? as you please.

Before the stroke I was going to make a towed backhoe for my tractor even bought welder, Dad helped me make front end loader worked well hydraulic. Had issues backing up my trailer between houses after stroke so gave tractor to brother in-law Wife cut deal with my close friend who lives in same town where we have large lot one of his neighbours had passed, had just bought large garden tractor He is tractor mechanic daughter of neighbour asked him if he would purchase tractor, So wife cut deal with him, cut our grass everybody happy. To be truthful I knew nothing about electroless plating before my son got the position. Seems we have similar interests . Organic process of plating is called E-coat I got exposed on my first position Kaiser Aluminum only coil line in world using this for aluminum siding. Now used mainly for automotive prior to prime coat. pretty simple process liquid bath part pulled through charged bath. I did anodic at Kaiser , Ford used Cathodic right after my zinc phosphate process So I would help the other rep. when he had an issue.
