How to make friends when you have problem talking to people

Before you work on friendships it helps to do things that bring you into regular contact with other people. It can be online, but online friendships are usually very temporary. So doing activities in real life is best. It can be work, school, clubs, sports, special interest groups, volunteering, etc. The more people you meet the more likely you are to find a good friend match.

Ah. The infernal question.

Honestly. I don't really know. I have very few real life friends and most of them have some type of Aspergers/ASD too.

Most of my friends are online. IDK if that helps. It seems easier to talk to people online.

Most of my friends are online too. I can talk to people, but usually after a few minutes, it gets very weird & awkward. Unless liquor is involved. Hah. But basically, I like to be alone.

I agree with this. It's best to find friends through activities, regular clubs, and common interests than online, though some online frindships can last. My mum and sister have a lot of friends, and most of them were neighbours near their house - but they are NT such relationships are easier to make and maintain for NTs.

Agree about awkwardness (although adding alcohol made me completely insufferable). The big problem with making "friends" in meatspace is that physical access to your home and body potentially puts you in harm's way. I have had people show up at my house uninvited after trying to kill me, so that is an experience I definitely want to avoid in future. Getting phone calls every day from the same person that you've told to never call you again...yeah. Not fun.
