Yep, one of several useful drugs that originated from herbal or home remedies. Tylenol is used to commit suicide which is really strange since there are many far less painful and more efficient ways to kill oneself than destroying the liver. Excessive aspirin ingestion can kill you, too, by eating a hole through your stomach and intestines.

That's how my body reacts to penicillin...that "Magic Bullet" that can kill some of us. As I once found out having been given it for a root canal.

Funny, mine was dental too, luckily I was using the free dentist in a large hospital. What did me in was the local anaesthetic. They put adrenillin in it these days for people that are so scared that they risk having a heart attack, no one is allergic to adrenillin but some of us are very allergic to the preservative they use in the adrenillin.

Sodium metabisulphate. Commonly used to sterilise beer bottles when doing homebrew, commercial fishermen also use it to kill and sterilise their catch, horrifically painful way to die. I can ingest small amounts of it the same as everyone else but just a couple of micrograms in my blood and I'm dead.

These days first responders automatically stab people with an epipen without even bothering to check anything else first, that'll likely be the end of me. Won't they be surprised?

I've had to argue pretty fiercely with doctors and nurses over the years too, many try to tell me that it was only that one particular brand of anaesthetic that I had to worry about, but the neurologist explained things to me very carefully and in great detail. Unless they can show me a full chemical breakdown of what they want to hit me with they can just bugger off.

I was extremely lucky once, that's my second chance. Third chances only happen in fairy tales.

I survived this, but it was a very uncomfortable experience.
Once was enough.

I'm allergic to the substitution the dentists use to replace penicillin, for people who may be allergic to penicillin really shocked dentist at time, first time in his 40 year career, he saw this, boy did I itch.

Man, that's an understatement to me! My penicillin reaction caused an itchiness so intense that part of my mind wanted drop to the ground and rip my body cavity open to wildly scratch my internal organs. The other 75% of my mind said to carry on with a stiff lower lip. But I wouldn't wish that sensation on anybody.
