How do I convince my mom I need an AS specific therapist?

By always being honest with yourself you will do yourself more good even if the therapist is not that helpful.
The problem with forced misdiagnosis is being prescribed a course of therapy that not only does not help, but may even prove to be harmful down the road (such as unnecessary exposure to medicinal side effects).

I ran into a number of quacks who would demand that I exchange my 2E diagnosis for that of Schizo-Affective Disorder.* The latter requires psychotropic drugs where the former does not.

An autism specialist can still determine if there are co-morbid conditions to be treated, but they are less likely to prescribe them unnecessarily.

*It is a common misdiagnosis of such.
