How can people not see that!

I just sat here trying to figure out what is probably irrelevant to most people. Someone posts a photo on facebook of the family sitting at a table at a restaurant and says something about feeling bad for "the man sitting behind us". I finally had to ask which us was the man sitting behind because they were sitting on opposite sides of the table. Maybe taking things literally makes some things not make sense so you need it clarified. But I often find myself staring at photos trying to figure out one (impertinent) detail that's driving me crazy. And it also bothers me that it doesn't seem to bother anyone else or that no one else even noticed it??? Even when it's something that stands out.

Totally reasonable question, indeed it could concern men sitting behind on all of the 4 sides of the table.

Specifically it probably relates to the man who sat behind the person who posted the photo, from that person's perspective, you see. Another possibility is that it would be the man whom that person posting the photo has noticed, potentially being annoyed. Basically from the poster's perspective, the man they thought could be affected.

If it was a family of 4, Pat, then two ( probably the one using facebook) is looking head on to the other table and seeing the lone eater and then, whispers to the others.

Anyway, that is what I think.

But in many situations, I am like this. I see something obvious and others are oblivious and that drives me crazy.

I don't think it was meant to be taken literally. I think it means they were noisy, and they expect that they annoyed everyone within earshot, but particularly those seated close by.

In which case, they used the wrong expression. The actual turn of phrase for this is "I feel sorry for the people at the next table".

Difficult to understand and comment without actually seeing the photo.

If I knew where the person posting the photo or making the comment was sitting, I would assume that it was referring to a person sitting directly behind her. But "us" might not necessarily mean behind the person posting. In which case I would have no idea who they were talking about.

Actually it was a man who was hit by a flying toy. LOL So he was definitely affected, not sure how annoyed, but probably. lol It reminded me of dinner with little grandsons and a man sitting behind me and one grandson thanked me repeatedly for catching the milk that would have went all over the man. :)

Ok: (It was my daughter's post. lol)

And the 'man sitting behind them' was hit by a flying toy.
I know you guys will understand my wanting to know which us was he sitting behind.

But I often find myself trying to figure out details mentioned and unable to figure it out from the photo.

Oh... you didn't need to post the photo but thanks :) I see what you mean, now the context is clear. It's not obvious at all. To me, 'behind' means behind either row of people, to the left or to the right. I guess the comment is meant for those who were present at the gathering, who would know which man was being talked about.

It's hidden by the lamp mostly, but if you look closely you can see what appears to be a fork sticking out of the man in the black tee shirt's back. Hope that helps!

;)

I literally did have to laugh and when I looked back at the picture, laughed even harder.
And my first response to her post is that people should know the dangers of sitting next to a group of kids. lol

Is it the people we can see, facing the other way, in the center?
What's the answer?? Now it's bothering me!

A realtor emailed me about a place and said that the tree on the right might have to be removed.
So is that the tree on the right if you face the street from the front door or if you face the house standing in the street?
I decided it is the house’s right, as if the house is a patient.

Actually I think it's a funny story - I talked to my daughter today. Dad took the 2 girls to the bathroom leaving my daughter with the 2 littlest ones. That's when my grandson scooted close enough to reach the peg toy and threw it and hit the man behind him. As my daughter got up to apologize to the man and pick up all the pegs, the baby starts crying because mom was out of sight. Needless to say, dad got fussed at for leaving her alone with them. LOL
Anyhow it was behind the two boys.

Looks just like the Cracker Barrel here. Curtains and all. Guess they make them all the same.
I like playing with the peg toys there. Just don't leave enough pegs to be called Ignoramous.
