Hey! I have no idea what to write. I'm Kintsugi. I chose that name after I spent some time in an IOP program and they showed us a video of the Japanese art technique of kintsugi where you repair broken pottery with gold. That was meaningful to me, so I just kinda stuck with it! I'm 31. I was officially diagnosed about two weeks ago. I wasn't surprised, but I'm still kind of grappling with it...I always suspected something was "wrong" with me, more than just depression and anxiety, but I couldn't quite place it. After doing research and listening to other women with autism, a lot of my struggles started to make sense. So, I reached out to get an assessment and boom. No one knows except my pastor and my therapist. The latter wants me to try and make friends. I am totally isolated. I'm trying to find people like me. I saw some intros mentioning the MBTI and the enneagram. I'm an INFP, type 9w1 if that means anything. XD I love cats, nature, and writing stories. Nice to meet you all.

Glad to have you with us, @kintsugi

You are most definitely in the right place to make some autistic friends. Beyond that. We have plenty of info to look at with Autism. Every day life, specific struggles, co-morbids, special interests... you name it. I'm sure you'll find it.

It's good you got a diagnosis. There are folks, like myself, that are undiagnosed, or are diagnosed late into life. It happens. We fall through the cracks of the medical system.

I hope you enjoy your time with us.

HI and Welcome @kintsugi
When I saw the intro post and then saw your name I thought - I get that allusion.

Love your choice of name.
Welcome

Welcome.

Fixing broken things with gold - how elegant!

Yeah, as women we don’t fit the stereotype of autism. I never did get diagnosed. Only figured it out as a senior. I experienced the same kind of relief to finally have my life make sense and an OMG I have autism sense of dread.

HI, yeah it can be hard to just write something. It's a lot like chatting, which we generally struggle with. Cats are nice. My only pet as a child was a stray cat I secretly started feeding and who eventually my parents allowed me to take in. Didn't have any during my military career but then my wife brought home a Chihuahua puppy by surprise one holiday season and have been very attached to them and dogs in general. Though all animals and really all living things are special to me.

Hey, I'm about 17 years older but also love pottery, jewellery making as a hobby. This reminds me of stain glass where pieces soldered together to form patter. So interesting.
