'Lo Zack and welcome to the best forum on the planet! You'll love it here, and all the members are super-nice. I played around with clay a little bit, but my obsessions were streetlights and sprinklers. I used to observe them in detail, wait until they turn on, and even listen to the sounds they made (streetlights buzzing and sprinklers doing the ratatatatatatata). I used to memorize the various shapes of the sprinklers, as well as the shapes of the streetlight portions that hold the bulbs. I perceived certain shapes as "ugly" and other shapes as "cute". Yet I loved observing them all. I don't obsess over those anymore...but I can't stop obsessing about construction sites (only observing, not working there). The machinery, especially cranes, fascinates me a lot. Frankly, I have very fond memories of all these interests I've mentioned and I used to also draw these items as well as make models of them at home using toys and stuff. I do eye contact with only some people...basically people that I'm comfortable being around. Otherwise, if there's a history of me upsetting them (and with many people there is, I'd hate to admit) - I tend to automatically avoid eye contact out of embarrassment or nervousness.

Hi Aspiescience. Welcome to AC!!!

I hope you are able to find out whether you have Aspergers or not. You might want to look up Autism/Aspergers specialists in your area. Non-specialists might be worse than unhelpful. A specialist might not only help you with a diagnosis, but also help you in dealing with whatever you turn out to have.
