Hi, I'm Snicklefritz,

I'm marginally on the spectrum by my own reckoning and came to that realization in 2008 after watching Mozart And The Whale (good movie!). Rather than just being a wannabe my realization was corroborated by a woman, who had known me for about 5 years, who had been involved in Autism research for about 25 years. She told me that if she had the proper credentials that she would give me a diagnosis without batting an eye. What I have been properly diagnosed with is General Anxiety with a subheading of Avoidant Personality Disorder. Personally, I think that that being on the spectrum is the root casue of my anxiety disorders.

So, here's partially the reason why I am joining tonight. I'm married to someone else (diagnosed and mildly so) in here. My wife is having quite a crisis right now and I would like to communicate with another member in here who she has been in communication with. My wife will give this other member permission first, of course. My question is is how do I do that? I go to that other member's profile page and there doesn't seem to be a way for me to start a dialogue. Maybe I'm just missing something and just need to do a little more reading?

Anyway, I'm glad to be here and hope to check in here now and then unlike on other sites where I'm a bit overwhelmed (Like a lot of you, I'm sure.). I have come to understand that this is a fairly peaceful place.

Hi Snickelfritz, welcome to Aspie Central.

It's nice that you are doing what your doing for Garnet. You can PM Warmheart and ask her some things, if she's available and she will agree to. Click on the hotlink here: Warmheart 's profile a small box will come up and click Start a Conversation.

She's not on the site right at the moment, but she'll answer when she see's the PM.

Thanks Mia. FWIW, my wife deleted that other post regarding this. She didn't realize it was semi-public. And..I figured out how to PM (to anyone) with the help of your post. Thanks again.

Welcome to AC! :) I hope you feel very comfortable here. You likely will find support and understanding in our community. Thank you for joining us!

Hi & Welcome
I have only General Anxiety Disorder 'on the books'. Its called a co-morbid. Don't know what causes what but they come together frequently. Alot of NTs have anxiety disorder, so my guess is that autism doesn't cause it direct, but indirect by overtaxing the system.
