Hello everyone, I am currently awaiting a diagnosis for Asperger's syndrome. I'd just like to get in contact with others and see how they deal with it.

Greetings and salutations! I'm new here as well. Just joined a couple of days ago. Seems to be a very nice and helpful place. Hope you enjoy it too.

thanks apsie, I'm actually looking for the differences between autism and aspergers. Last night I went to a help group for both Autism and aspergers and some of the people there were gone I didn't really know the difference between them.

Welcome aboard.

It's all autism, however, as I understand it, Aspergers is a form of higher functioning autism. Usually coincides with an above average IQ, ability to more easily adapt and blend into neurotypical society.
With the new DSM, there are three levels of autism. Level One (aspie),Level Two functioning with difficulty, Level Three needs constant care, support, special living accommodations.
I think this is accurate.

Welcome :)

You'll find that everyone deals with it in their own way, depending on how AS affects them, and their circumstances. Some consider it a blessing, and have embraced it, though there are others who do struggle more because of it.
