Hello.

Wolf

Well-Known Member
Hello,

My name is Shiro. I am a nineteen year old college student with Asperger's Syndrome. I am also a wolf therianthrope. My main obsessive interests are computers, locks & alarms, criminal justice, wolves, and Sonic The Hedgehog. I obsessively collect wolf shirts, sonic shirts, locks, handcuffs, retail security devices, and similar things. I was diagnosed at a young age, and despite the new DSM IV eliminating the AS diagnosis, I still identify using it because I feel it's more "me" than simply saying High Functioning Autism.

I joined the site because it seems to have less drama and commercialism than other Autism Communities. I also like the fact it uses Xenforo, it is my forum system of choice.

Welcome :D

I'd never heard of DSM IV before now. Does it differ much from a diagnoses of HFA?

Hope you feel right at home here; everyone's very helpful and encouraging.

@Vanilla I think you may be a little bit confused about what I'm saying. The DSM IV not a diagnosis, it is the diagnostic criteria used to diagnose psychological 'disorders'. The Asperger's diagnosis has been eliminated from it and merged with the "High Functioning Autism" diagnosis. This means that according to doctors, I do not have "Asperger's" I have "High Functioning Autism". I still identify as having Asperger's.

Aah, that makes more sense, haha, thanks for clarifying that :P

It's also the DSM V that's eliminated the term "Asperger's syndrome," not the DSM IV.

Anyway, welcome, Shiro. :)
