Hello - I am new here.

Hello everyone,
I have been friends with someone for over 25 years now, who, at the age of 62 and after five years of fighting for it was tested/assessed for having Autism/Asperger's/Dyspraxia, all of which she thought she did have. And she does. So she has been adjusting to this news since then which is less than a year. We have both found it very helpful to know this and I have been changing my communication styles to further embrace her diagnosis like no longer asking her direct questions. The first time I visited her after her diagnosis I was so proud of myself for only slipping up on that once in 3 days! She appreciates my having decided to do this however there is more to be done. That's why I am here.

I am not on the Spectrum myself. I have other challenges which put some pressure on our friendship. Mine are physical so we have to accomodate my low energy levels, my tendency to talk too much and to mumble to name a few!

Welcome aboard :)
I think it is awesome you are so supportive of your friend. Good on you :)
Hope this site proves helpful.
Best wishes
