hello and thank you for having me.

i am not diagnosed with anything. i came across this website yesterday when i searched, 'why do i feel like an alien in a human body'. and i strongly related to the experiences people relayed on that thread, and i relate to many other experiences i've read here.

my entire life i have been frequently told that i am 'weird' or 'funny' (sometimes genuinely but more often as a euphemism for 'weird'). i have had social problems, often having only 1 or 2 and sometimes 0 friends (though i've done better in recent years and have many more friends now). i have always been very intelligent and have excelled at school. and i have had obsessions, so, so many obsessions. i have obsessive thoughts, and it appears i have a single repetitive compulsion: rubbing my hands together fast sort of in a scheming way, which indicates excitement, thinking, or starting a new task.

it's incredible to me that i found this. i am pretty high-functioning (though i object to the term 'high functioning' for what it implies) so i have never seen a doctor about this, but i have always been different. i've just always attributed my issues to personal failings and told myself that i need to work harder to improve (thanks capitalism).

i probably won't get a diagnosis in the near future because i live in japan right now and i can't speak japanese that well, but i hope to learn and contribute with everyone here.

thanks.
