Hi! My name's Aelita (not my real name), and I was diagnosed with autism a year and a half ago, maybe? I don't really remember exactly. I'm 24, so pretty late diagnosis. I knew I had autism for years before I was tested though. My brother's autistic, and I've spent all my life around him and other autistic people and am familiar with the traits and behaviors associated with autism, so I was easily able to recognize them in myself.

As for other things about myself, I'm gay and engaged to a wonderful woman whom I've known for several years. I love Disney and stuffed animals and am pretty much just an adult child. I especially love Dory and tend to sing Just Keep Swimming at random intervals. I also like cosplay and go to conventions every year, which is fun.

Hi Aelita welcome. I hope you enjoy it here, people are friendly and there's plenty of useful information and ideas to read and respond to. Yes I think I missed the point at which childhood was supposed to end and adulthood started oops. Perhaps neurodiverse aging is slower? Or variable...

Welcome! I don't think 24 is that old for a diagnosis; it's pretty common to slip through the cracks as a child and not find out until you're grown up.

In my case, I wasn't diagnosed until age 36, and hadn't even heard of High Functioning Autism or Asperger's until a few months before my diagnosis.
