Had my second assessment today

I had my second ASD assessment today, this time by a consultant psychiatrist, it was really just a repeat of the first one as they have a policy here that you have to be assessed by two professionals. I had to fill the various questionnaires again beforehand, as did my parents. It went OK, though she only briefly asked about sensory issues and focused a lot on my childhood and history of depression. Anyway the good news is that my ADOS is booked for 10th October, and my follow up diagnostic appointment for the day after that; so in total only six months from initial appointment with my GP, to diagnosis (hopefully); which is a very short wait by UK standards.

Thanks [emoji3] She was pretty nice, I have met some awful psychiatrists before so I was relieved. I also remembered to talk about my interest in film cameras and photography in general, as I forgot last time.

That's good. I hear it constantly that people get turned away from GPs, not wanting to even entertain the thought.
Yes I have heard that a lot too, I have been told this area used to be pretty bad in that regard but since making an adult autism service and retraining GPs on the issue they now have pretty much the best adult autism services in London.

Awesome! I'm in a tiny rural place, but it is also part of a state that is advanced for the US, and that's no accident. If I had remained in the deep South state where I graduated from high school, my entire life would have been twisted for the worse.

Right now, my GP is still my go-to person for care, but I admire him and we have a good relationship. He doesn't pretend to know things he does not, and that's a rare and important quality.
