Getting a new PC

Yes, that's exactly all I had in mind - to simply cover the carpet. Needs to be something fairly rigid so that the feet of the computer don't just sink it in to the carpet though, eg: a thin sheet of plastic wouldn't be much good because the computer would sink in to the carpet anyway and the carpet would mold itself around the feet and block air access.

That's why I thought of cheap chopping boards.

I am using these square section steel pieces, they raise the PC almost an inch above the carpet. Using your idea I thought I could put some silicone sheet I have between them to cover the carpet there. That way the PC feet will be on something solid, not the sheet.

Yes. Good idea. The two together would work perfectly.

What about this? The chair is very strong. It would raise the PC up. Also it matches the wood of the desk but I am worried about it putting all that heavy weight not on the case feet but the bottom of the case.

That would also work fine. I very much doubt that the case resting on it's base instead of it's feet is going to cause any problems. As long as it isn't wobbly when it's sitting on the chair it should be good.

With you being in a wheelchair having the computer a little higher up will probably make life easier for you too. Easier to access USB ports etc.

I feel dumb because I did not think about that. It would help me so much. My biggest problem is reaching things.

From what I keep hearing one reason the PC is so heavy is because the case is very strong so maybe it will be okay.

I just measured the seat angle and it is 2º. Would that be a problem for the liquid cooling? I have a folding wooden tray also. I have put 50 or 60 lbs on it to test but I am worried about the 72lbs of the PC. The PC is new and expensive I do not want to ruin it right away with an accident - the stand not working. The chair is very strong and stable but the tray is level and moves the PC higher.

The folding table moves sideways a lot when I push on it.

Edit: I tried the folding table and it is weak and very unstable, I will not use it.

I am wondering how I will lift the PC onto the chair. If I cannot, I will need to have it on the floor.

I agree, that table looks like it'd be wobbly. I think the chair would be much better, it's a nice solid looking chair.

This is how it looks on my table using augmented reality. It is huge. I think unless I get a big desk I need to put it on the floor. Please excuse the mess, I have been moving things around.

The desk I have does not feel safe, it wobbled when I put 70lbs of weight on. Also it is too narrow, the monitor will touch the side of the PC. I had to get a new desk. I checked a lot, read reviews and ask ChatGPT. It is rate for more than 170lbs and has a motor to raise and lower so I can get the right height for my wheelchair. It was also on special low price.

I was too worried about safety to risk the desk I have with the new heavy PC so I did this. I will feel better later. I also thought about what if I had to go under the desk some time, scary with a wobbling desk.

A chair? So much weight sitting on a small space supported by four small legs.

Let's just say if you lived in my neck of the woods with earthquakes, you'd veto that one. You're better off looking for something that while unquestionably supporting the weight, is not too far off the ground. And that it won't be prone to wobbling.

I forgot about earthquakes, you and I do live near each other. A little scared now I did not prepare for that. The PC arrived this morning. I have it on my table, my new desk will not arrive for a week and is much wider.

I got the PC on to the desk. I started it and set it up, downloading things. It was heavy but I could lift it.

It is Intel i9 Ultra 285K, Nvidia Founder's Edition RTX 5090. I was shocked to find out the card is Founder's Edition.
