Feel like I failed a friend...

I have a good friend who hosts a monthly event (it's hard to describe it, sort of a philosophy discussion).

It was tonight, the last one before September, it was marked on my calendar, I planned to go, I wanted to go as I have always enjoyed it.

But... There is always a but... I had a nasty headache today and was in no shape to go out tonight... Fred is very easy going in general and always forgives me not making it... But I feel like I failed him, for not getting out to nearly enough of his events in recent months

Or maybe I'm trying for too high of a standard because life happens, stuff happens... If I told him I didn't go because I wasn't feeling well, he wouldn't hold it against me... Probably anyone who heard that would do the same, I just hate missing things, thinking about what I possibly missed because I didn't go...

Ask him for an update?
The subjects you’ve missed whilst absent?

It’s really easy to feel like we’ve let someone else down when it’s possible the only person that’s affected is ourselves.

Things change, stuff happens, life gets in the way of some carefully laid plans.

If we don’t have the time to give, we don’t have the time to give.
It just is.

Sometimes a ‘heads-up’ as a matter of courtesy goes a long way but perhaps that’s more a manners thing than an expectation or compulsory?
