Dysgraphia

I dont have this but i know i am slower at writing and can get so messy i start squibbling out or screw it up and do it again the most i use is the computer i know its cheating its quicker and easier. I generally hate my hand writing it looks disabled but neat but when do signatures it changes some where

Absolutely. I am nearly 18 and I use my laptop for all of my college work. I don't carry a pen at all. I've been doing all of my work on my laptop since I bought one on my 13th birthday. People used to take the mickey because I was the only person who used a laptop. It's funny because my sister now goes to that school, and about 10% of the students do their work on laptops.
My signature is also different every time I write it. I completely messed it up on the back of my cashcard.
Also, does writing the complete wrong letters count? When I do have to write, I often write the wrong letters e.g. I would go to write a P but get carried away and write an R because they start the same.

There is definitely a difference between poor handwriting and dysgraphia, but I wouldn't know whether or not you have dysgraphia. I have had a neuropathy since birth and have one of several forms of dysgraphia from that. I have read that dysgraphia is common in people with HFA.

I'll post a writing sample later. I have one floating around somewhere anyway for this precise purpose. It hurts too much to write a new one every time.

Yes, I have terrible hand writing;

xD.
IDK about dysgraphia though.

My handwriting is at least twice as bad as Emor's. I'll try and post something today. Going to see Remember Me at midnight, have to get some beauty sleep for mr. pattinson. :P

I use cursive for my signature in the rare time I have to write checks and stuff but it doesn't look different to my print except it's joined. Literally. Sometimes when people do cursive they do all this fancy crap, but the only notable difference is it's slightly more slanted than it already is.
I don't really feel any shame in my hand writing tbh. Sometimes I've been to ashamed to let people look at my work 'cause it sounds like a 5 year old wrote it(by 5 year old I mean mediocre, LOL[I'm so egotistical :)]) but never the handwriting.
Two weeks ago my French teacher in-front of the entire class had a go at me for my writing and I was very close to storming out of the class because she was just being a ***** tbh and taking it out on me and anyone else who did something wrong(and her list of what's wrong is anything and everything- it's more who you are or what you look like), but that just pissed me off and made me think less of her and teachers in general. I wasn't bothered about my hand writing.
My handwriting's comprehensible and that's all it needs to be. If teachers are going to be pathetic and want a dull essay to be aesthetically pleasing they should have become an art teacher, or just not be a teacher at all.
I know I sound way too defensive for someone who claims to not care but it just pisses me off that people can be so vain at times to be critical of people based on their ****ing hand writing. You shouldn't feel any anxiety but ass holes decided they'd be critical to make them feel better :/.

Ruby, that is absolutely shocking handwriting.

My maternal grandmother only went to school until 4th grade and her handwriting always looked like calligraphy. Yet she had never made any effort to write beautifully. She was a perfectionist though. My mother had elegant handwriting as well, but not to the same extent.

I was always getting criticized for my handwriting at school, but I really didn't think it was all that bad. These days it is more childish than bad. And I don't have a proper signature, anyone could forge it and it changes regularly.

I'm more concerned about my inability to draw. Seriously, when my son was 3 years old he would get me to draw pictures for him for hours on end. Now that he is nearly 5 he draws exactly like I do - my wife cannot tell our drawings apart. But I can draw reasonably clever caricatures for some reason. I can draw a "fish car" far better than I can draw either a fish or a car. I can draw a "monster airplane" far better than I can draw a monster or an airplane. And so on.

I developed a regular signature after I worked for two stores owned by the same company at the same time when I was 18. Every night I had to sign my name like six times when we were prepping the deposits for the different stores, signing that, authorizing this, witnessing the other thing, etc and so forth. Most of the letters are missing from my last name in my signature, though. Oh well.

"I can draw a "fish car" far better than I can draw either a fish or a car. I can draw a "monster airplane" far better than I can draw a monster or an airplane. And so on."

Perhaps it's because when you are drawing a fishcar, you are more concentrated on the pieces than the whole-- which is how aspies think, and when you try to draw a fish or a car you are more focused on the whole and therefore turn out poorer results? I can't draw for crap, which I suppose is pretty unsurprising. XD

No offense taken, yes I do. We tried to get a laptop accommodation for me in middle school (think age 11 to 13) but for some reason it didn't go through until junior year of high school (age 16-17). I don't do anything by hand except sign my name. I can't, it's incredibly painful and I haven't got the motor control to do anything productive with my hands anyway. Sometimes it's even hard to dress myself, and typing is really no picnic either, it's just easier. I've been this way since birth, they've found nerve abnormalities but nothing severe enough to account for this. I've been to some of the top neurologists in the country and nobody has any clue what's wrong with me. CLEARLY they just need to name it after me and start looking for a cure already. :P

The good news is, I can type 110 words a minute so I don't know why I'd ever want to write by hand anyway.

Aww. :(

I've always preferred computers/typing to handwriting. Literally, always; I was brought up on computers. :)

I've had 121-124 word per minute typing speed test scores a few years ago. :D

Probably not a good thing. :(

Oh - And I'm allowed my laptop to take notes etc at the college I'm going to in September, which is somewhat a relief.

My handwriting isn't great, but it doesn't really effect my day-to-day life anymore. All my Uni work needs to be typed up anyway. I'm also fine when it comes to filling in forms, as I can take my time. Taking notes is difficult, though, as I have to rush my writing and then I make a mess of it. Thankfully, all my lectures are presented via Powerpoint slides, so it's not too much of an issue.

my writing is barely readable by anyone, i even find it hard to read right after ive written it, but its not like emors or rubys, theirs looks like my doctors writing maybe a bit better, but luckily my course means i don't have to do much writing at all, but im not a fan of typing for ages so it kinda sucks(might also explain why i dont make long posts), im not entirely sure how i got through my gcses and got the grades i got

edit: i just looked at the Wikipedia article, i definitely have dysgraphia

Does anybody else have terrible handwriting? Mine has been awful all my life. A lot of teachers have told me to just slow down, which obviously doesn't work; I would need to write about a letter a minute to make it even semi-neat. My hand also gets tired writing fairly quickly. Just yesterday, my mom said she learned that people with dysgraphia get fatigued more quickly while writing. I always wondered why nobody else seemed to get tired. Until now, I thought it might be because I hold my writing utensil incorrectly (between my middle and ring fingers instead of index and middle fingers), but I guess not. Who else has handwriting problems?

My handwriting is neat to where it looks like calligraphy. The weird thing is that I have several distinct & different handwriting styles. I can never guarantee which one will emerge when I pick up a pen, but once a certain kind starts, I cannot switch in favour of one of the other styles I have. I am not in control of the process.

Who else has handwriting problems?
When I was 9 our class was transitioning from pencil to pen. I was the only one stuck writing in pencil because my handwriting was that bad.
I feel like there's too much disturbance or noise in my body to do fine movements. Not to say I can't handle fiddly work, I can - just not as fine as writing. I feel like my whole body is vibrating or rocking with each heart beat. (Don't worry my heart is fine ha).

My father and grandfather have poor handwriting too. It's weird to see different traits (asperger's or not) in parents and grand parents. I'm aspects of each person combined. Perhaps an unlucky combination, or not. Probably.
