Or maybe the same program just keeps scooping up my profile because its programmers didn't see the point of programming it to avoid trying the same person multiple times.

I found myself talking to a chatbot to successfully resolve a misunderstanding (via a rare technical glitch) of my bill with one of our utility companies.

Chatbot still have to progress further in development in order to best yield confusing experiences.

No, and I hope I never will. it’s a bit unsettling when I see “normal” people interacting with bots. I already struggle with socialization and feel a lack of communication and acute loneliness, but I don’t think I’d go that far. Plus, I’m just too lazy to put in the effort to have conversations and articulate my thoughts – that’s something I struggle with.

Talking to chatbots like having conversations, getting advice, etc. from them? Nah. They're not real, so anything they say is just nonsense to me as far as I'm concerned.

But I will openly admit I have used ChatGPT and other AI chatbots for assistance in figuring out how to do stuff in HTML and CSS. Like I hate GenAI for things like writing, art, etc. because it's all made from stolen content but stuff like code? I mean for starters as anyone will tell you a good chunk of coding is just searching up 'how do I do this???' and copypasting someone else's code and seeing if it works for what you wanna do and also like...I'm still making the content myself and I'm not relying 100% on AI for every single bit of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript my site uses, just sometimes I don't know how to do something and I'll ask it and try out the code it gives me to see 'Does this do what I want?' and if it doesn't - tell it and typically it eventually figures it out.

I think you’re right — most of those chatbots like Kuki or Mitsuki aren’t really “intelligent,” they’re more like clever scripts that shuffle pre-written responses. Replika is a bit more advanced, but even there it’s still limited by design. For a lot of people, though, the comfort they bring feels very real, and that in itself has value.


As for risks — I guess it depends on how much you rely on them. If someone starts replacing all human contact with only chatbot conversations, it could get isolating. But as a little support or just something soothing when you feel lonely, I don’t see harm in it. It’s more like having a mirror that talks back in a friendly way.
