Disposable wooden utensils

Wooden utensils and chopping blocks can be sanitized using a dilution of chlorine bleach or by using hydrogen peroxide followed by vinegar after a regular washing and drying with mild soap and water.

I imagine there are also commercial disinfectants.

You could also put them through a dishwasher with a sanitizing cycle, but that would likely wreck them (especially in the case of chopping blocks).
I soak the ones I have at home (though I rarely use wooden ones) in chlorine bleach solution, it's more when I'm out somewhere and I don't know what hygiene standards they have that it worries me. I don't have a dishwasher.

Yeah, I have been amazed by the lack of hygeine standards out and about sometimes.

I remember looking at watermelon halves at a grocery store once and noticing they had not been rinsed at all before being cut and wrapped -- the rinds were covered with dirt. Food poisoning anyone?
 
Update-

I talked to the office staff. There headquarters are in Oregon and they are very eco-friendly. All single use plastic items are not allowed on site. The wooden utensils are bamboo.
 
I've systematically ruined skillets using metal forks while cooking all kinds of things.

Stands to reason I need to find a relatively small bamboo fork as a suitable replacement. Softer than metal, yet sturdier than plastic.
