Did you ever dream about your job?

When working for Burger King making salads, I had a dream that I was drowning in a sea of salads, desperately trying to fight my way up.

When working for Mcdonalds, I had a dream I went to Mcdondalds as a customer, and they didn't give me my food fast enough, so I leapt over the counter and made the hamburgers myself.

When I worked as a nanny with a two month old, I had a recurring dream in which I forgot where I put the baby, and I'd wake up with my heart beating like an African drum, and it would take me a few minutes to realize it was a dream.

Anyone else has a similar experience?

Yes quite regularly, a few nights ago I dreamt that I accidentally submitted a smutty fanfiction chapter to a journal instead of my research article  They're not always bad though, I often dream about lovely days spent doing field work in the sun, often with friends helping out for no apparent reason.

I haven't had dreams of my current job yet. I've only been there a year. But I do have dreams of previous jobs all the time. Usually I'll be in some work-like atmosphere and one or two people or some activity will signal to me that I am dreaming of a particular job.

I also have dreams about my old VW van a lot (it's been gone for 15 years) I'm always surprised that it starts and drives. I had to do a lot of repairs on it, so driving it was kind of a job.

The first few weeks I was moderator here
I received many PM & new message alerts...in my dreams.
I'd click them and try to decipher the meaning
of the messages.

Sometimes the words faded as I read, or changed, or
were written so obscurely that figuring them out
was impossible.

As time went by the number these communications
dropped. I only get one or two a month now,
instead of a hundred+.

I have a reoccurring dream about my last job. I worked for a Caterpillar dealership for almost thirty years. I have had this dream since I became self-employed. When I worked for Cat, I was a field service technician and since our customers were charged by the hour, I had to turn in a time card with every work order. In my dream, I can not understand why I am not getting into trouble because I am not turning in work orders or filling out time cards.

In a odd twist, I know a guy that I used to work with who is now also self-employed. He has the same dream all of the time.

I still have what more often than not seem like nightmares regarding a job I held for many years, but also one I left some 22 years ago.

I career which I started out loving, but would eventually come to hate.

I often dream I'm at work, whatever job I have at the time. Then I wake up and it's time to go to work, and I'm like "..."

I don't remember my dreams much. I tend to be thinking about work for a while before I realise that I am awake, though. Often trying to solve something or feeling concerned about something. Now I am thinking maybe that's the tail end of a dream? Because once I realise I m awake I stop worrying or considering the work issue and just say to myself not to think about it. Hmm...

I've had dreams about encountering the boss who got me fired in 2009. Or rather, not encountering - typically it's a crowded room and we're trying to avoid each other.

I have dreams about me and the guy who got me fired last year in an MMA Ring where I'm kicking his arse.

I have had a few dreams about work. Most of the time I'm working in the pizza parlor as I usually do. Then I wake up and realize I have to go to work in a couple of hours. It's like I'm working all the time, even as I sleep. Good thing I enjoy my job.

I have some dreams about my current job. But I try not to think about it when I'm home. I started having dreams about my last job which I hadn't worked at for like 10 years, so I looked up the place and some of my former coworkers. Found out one guy I worked with had just died unexpectedly. Stopped having the dreams after that.

I have lots of dreams about my old house, since I spent 17 years there. Mostly dreams that I go over there and start working on things outside like I normally would, and the new owner comes out and asks me what I am doing. Jokingly, not like I am an intruder, but just a doofus who forgot where I now live.

I'm either negotiating my departure due to declining health (waking up to realise it's long since) or returning to help out with "the emergency" due to my experience and looking forward to extra income, then wondering whether I'm up to date enough or healthy enough, then deciding to re-resign after all. Or very pleased with my productivity / ashamed of my unproductivity. Or it's about what seating position in what office space. Or about colleagues and relationships. Waking up glad I can get by and have a simple slow life where big decisions don't depend on me.
