I once knew someone who had a parrot with a piece of string tied around each leg.

A place I did volunteer work back in the 1980s had a sign by a door that said "Do not leave this door ajar".
I brought in a cleaned-out empty peanut butter jar, and left it next to the door. A few people asked who's jar it was, but no one seemed to "get it". I was disappointed.
