Creepy AI development (if true)

I'm writing from the future, April 2037. I long for the day that the AI robots are polite like 2024 and not rude like they are these days.

I apologise if you took me seriously - I have a poor sense of humour! It was only meant to be an ironic joke (hence the winking emoji, though that's not exactly clear - sorry).

Nah, just being ironically (un)humorous! A lifetimes practice (I'm nearly 7 and a half years old 😉) has seen my ability to upset and insult others without even needing to try anymore - my autistic 'superpower'!

On a (slightly) more serious note, I do seem to write in a style (and to some degree talk) in a way that does bring out the worse in some peoples interpretation of what I'm trying to put across! One of the pleasures of engaging on this site is that most of us here, even though quite as able to misunderstand, don't stamp a possible insult as being an actual one immediately and without consideration (mostly because they too have experienced similar natured issues before and are therefore better at recognising it with others, I'd guess).

Though that doesn't make it much better if it does happen, I still feel bad that I may have upset someone without intending, sometimes even by trying not to! But it happens much less often here, which is good enough in the greater scheme of things. 🙂

Actually, I have come across someone online who used an AI to try and out argue me by posting it's output as his own. He was using ChatGPT I believe, and ironically enough it was an argument/discussion about the nature of AI's (and my negative conclusions about them (LLM's to be more specific)). I believe (or my ego does 😉) that when he was unable to counter my points, he started resorting to using the LLM to speak for him.

Especially as it was an early release version I spotted it immediately and found myself very angry that he was doing it without making clear to everyone in the thread that he was doing this, and I replied that I considered it rather rude and demeaning, especially as the discussion was about the negative aspects of doing exactly what he resorted to doing! It maybe that he was trying to prove his point through using it, but I didn't think it was appropriate in the way he used it and under the context of the original point of contention.

It was interesting how upset he got over it, although I never berated him as a person, only this particular choice he made, he (unsurprisingly really?) took great offence, but was unable to express anything rationally (maybe because he had no rational argument? Maybe I just upset him too much to use his intellect properly?), but in the end he stopped posting and I don't think he ever engaged in the forum again (under that account anyway) which made me feel rather small and a little pathetic to have unwittingly ostracised someone! I was too involved in trying to put an important message across to stop and think about how I was expressing it. Failing to understand that facts and logic won't persuade everyone regardless of how correct those things are (an alien concept to me, but hardly an uncommon one).

Oops! I've only just twigged I was being more than insulting towards you with the suggestion you're an AI, in the context of the title of the thread - 'creepy' was most certainly not in my mind at the time! Sorry if that was how it came across because that's not so funny.
