Bizarre psychiatrist appointment

I went for my appointment, only to be told that I had already missed it. The writing looked like it said: July, but in fact, it was last month and he did not even contact to find out why I missed it and now on holiday.

Because anger issues has been on a high, went to try and see a dr, but he is on holiday too. However, the receptionist was very pleasant and managed to get me an appointment to see another psychiatrist, which was for today.

At least he agrees with me that I do not suffer depression! However, due to the nature, I get confused as to what to say and thus, because anger is related to my being on the spectrum, I decided to show him my piece of paper. He then confused me even more by asking why did I get tested?????? And even shrugged his shoulders and said something like: so what?

I could feel myself panicking. I do not deal with illogical people very well.

Eventually, he did give me a prescription, but for another unknown medicine and said it is for anxiety and will keep me calm. The trouble is, with Risperdone, it took my anger away completely and the only side effect, was feeling very sleepy. I can also take natural meds with it and so, based on a drama I am watching, where a female says: I do apologise for my saying this, seeing as you are who you are, but. I was able to imiate that and bow my head and say how sorry I am for contradicting him since he is the professional, but....

.... and it worked! He redid the prescription for Risperdone, but completely contradicted himself. First, he said that it is a very strong medicine and then said that I need to take it 3 times a day, because it will not be strong enough! In fact, I was taking even less and it was strong enough to take anger away 100%

I feel he was prejudging me a bit. I do not look "mentally ill". He only sees what is in front of him, so if it had not been for my husband who said that I am suffering horrendeously from anger issues, I feel that he would say that I did not need medicine.

I would really like to not take any medicine, but I feel miserable suffering from anger.

That's odd! I was told to only take it once a day, but then changed it to twice just to mitigate side-effects.

If you're okay with saying, I'd be curious to know what dosage he gave you. I'm having some confusion as to what constitutes a low, medium, and high dose when treating non-psychosis issues.

Sorry to hear that, as was said before is there anything you can take besides medication to help with your anger? Maybe find a new activity.

Good thing you weren't in America for that missed appointment.
They can't wait to inform you if you miss your time here because they will charge you
$50.00 for missing it!
And if you miss three times they dismiss you as a patient.

Depression takes care of anger as it is anger turned inward from being unable to express it.
I used to get very angry easily, but when I fell into depression it eased off.
Of course now the depression is unbearable.
Antidepressants only make me feel worse.
It's hard to find the right thing. :(

Have you found something outside medicine that helps with anger?

Nothing works accept this med that I am taking now. Knowing from last time that it causes extreme tiredness, I took it just before going to bed, but sadly woke with feeling out of it and so, on the suggestion of my husband, only taking half a tablet and see if that helps.

The thing with this medicine, is that it takes away my anger 100% and thus, do not need to divert my attention.

This establishment is government run and so, it is all free and I guess, what goes along with that, is medicro help, but saying that, despite the negatives ie that my therapist keeps insisting I suffer depression, when I clearly do not, he has started the ball rolling for me to get financial aid and agrees that no employer would employ me with all that is going on.

First time I missed the appointment and only because of the indiscernable handwriting.

Three times a day!
That's triple my dose!

Sorry, I mean: half a tablet in the morning; half in the afternoon and one in the evening. But, I am ignoring him.

First day, I took one tablet in the evening and was dopey for best part of the next day. Last night, I took half a tablet and feel ok as of now, and sense that it is already controlling my anger issues and boy, are they put to the test with blasted family members.
