Autism Or No ?

PTSD is something i acquired, not something i was born with. Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition, meaning it's rooted in how the brain develops. So yet again, what I have are similar to autism symptoms, but they come from a different place and time.
Re-wiring of the brain secondary to PTSD and post-natal isn't "developmental?" Just asking. I'm learning a lot here and am searching for definitions of terms with which I'm unacquainted.

I am not someone who knows a lot about this, but so far i learned that developmental disorders are defined as conditions that begin in the early stages of brain development, usually prenatal or early childhood, while PTSD and trauma related changes are considered acquired conditions (which means that they can happen at any age, even in adulthood).
Even if the brain changes, those changes will be a response to environmental events, not a natural path of development. Yet i'm sure that if trauma happens during childhood it can interfere with normal development in a lasting way.

I came to this forum a year and a half ago and wow did i learn a lot from people here. Now i can also use all those cool words and sound very smart in conversations with NTs who are totally not interested in that :D

Not being interested in uniquenesses of the human condition seems to me to be very narrow-minded.

Most of the time I don't connect my PTSD to autism, but rather my OCD based on my physician's analysis.

If I'm not interacting with other humans, my autism isn't usually an issue. OTOH my OCD follows me wherever I go...whether surrounded by people or completely alone.
 
Thank you, @Rodafina, for the chart. Based on it, it's definitely possible that what I thought was autism is PTSD. Right now, I'm not interested in thinking about any of it. In fact, I'm getting more upset as I type.

My biggest problem is ADHD.
I have been working on it for a while, and have instances where mindfulness has improved my memory noticeably, also.
But after a "lifetime" of bumbling through life, it isn't the easiest thing to wrassle.

A pox on the ppl without ADHD! :p

Why not think about, feel, and type the things that make you feel good, feel happy? I know that reading threads can make a person feel down and sad. Maybe you can start a thread that makes you and others feel positive? I'd support and encourage you to do this!

I would like to be a person "around you" that talks with you about these types of topics and about anything, Tired.
 
If a psychotherapist doesn't have expertise in a particular area, that therapist should have the self-awareness to refer a patient to one who does have the expertise. There's NO WAY that one therapist could treat ALL patients who come for services.
Exactly. At least have the self-awarness to "do no harm".

In addition, you always have the right to FIRE your therapist and get another. That's not being aggressive. That's being assertive! It's not aggressive to provide honest feedback to a therapist when you are offended by her/his being offended!

When I was a kid my family doctor was like this, he knew he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed and he never pretended otherwise. In my opinion that makes him one of the best doctors I've ever met.

He and his wife were both doctors and she was one of the most intelligent and exceptional doctors I've ever met, and this stood out to me as odd for an Indian couple. The husband knew how much smarter than him his wife was and he was happy to let her take the lead whenever it was needed.

Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. Focusing on the present moment PREVENTS one from ruminating on the past and worrying over the future. Mindfulness is also called Present Mindedness. There is a book called, "The 5-Minute Mindfulness Journal: Daily Practices for a Calmer, Happier You." There are other journal books on mindfulness that help us to focus on the present moment. However, the ones that I saw cost more than the one cited above. Why not do a search with key words: mindfulness journals? (I hope it is permissible to cite a work that helps Aspies be in the present tense.)

Probably to some extent or another and on some topic or another.
Most neurotypicals that I know are sports nerds.🤣
