Are mathematical ability and mental illness linked?

I am not a numbers person, at all. I am pretty sure I have dyscalculia. I really do not remember dates, chronical or not. I do not have an affinity for memorizing numericals either. I could grasp a math application in practice in school but could not apply it independently at home. I am sufficient at practical, every day, mental math though. My daughter has been taught common core and that in itself makes my brain scream and makes me feel relatively stupid.
