Hi everyone, I had a meeting on the fourth with my team from the ARC. They said the best thing for me right now will probably be an IRA anyone have experience or heard of this?

It might take a while and also I need a lot of evaluations for it even though I already have OPWDD

It’s called individualized residential alternative

Interesting! An example:

"Individual Residential Alternatives (IRAs) are homes and apartments of 10 or fewer residents that focus on promoting independence and preparing adults with developmental disabilities to become productive members of their communities. These programs provide a nurturing environment in a home-like setting that allows each individual to achieve his or her potential. Individual Residential Alternatives are located in Brooklyn, Queens, and on Long Island."

We have a program in Reno that is similar, but not limited to adults with disabilities. Though I suspect it functions on a rather limited basis given demand versus local resources. I like the idea that a community is willing to extend people a hand when they truly need one.
