Answer a QUESTION with a QUESTION

While I'll admit that some numbers are more useful than others, do we really need to make more numbers, of ANY quality?
 
If I wrote an epic poem to help you grasp a tiny fragment of my utterly sublime feelings, would you read it?
 
Don't you need to know how long it is before you can pick out the right sized ruler to measure it with?
 
Are you asking from the perspective of a living individual, or from a broader cosmological outlook?
