As much as I like using MS Word, the Online version is crap, as it borks the formatting of my documents.

Does anyone have any recommendations for any preferably free or ridiculously cheap alternatives?

I'm not that familiar with Online Word Processors, but i have have received a lots of links to Google Docs documents from various websites. And since it is a Google service, you only need to use a existing Google user to start using it.

Thanks, I'll try that.

I might be confused with what you're looking for but I'm using Open Office on Win 10 as an alternative to paying over a hundred pounds for Office or an ongoing free for 365 for a year.

OpenOffice Writer on rollApp

I think that's the Chrome OS version of Open Office. Looks like it.

In a related similar question without doing a separate thread, does anyone know any good HTML editors for Chrome?

Link doesn't work, I think it's because it's a secure site.

I'm using Google Chrome browser.

There's the link to the Google page with it on, first result. Does that work?

I was recommended Brackets when I was watching a lynda.com video. It works very good. Again, here's the Google Page with it on, second result.

I use google G Suite which is great. $5 per month, but there may be a free version.

I've always used installable code editors personally. I use a Linux one now, but I think notepad++ could do as much in Windows.

I have an Office 365 subscription thanks to school, and the online version of Word is absolute crap compared to the actual software suite on my computer.

Google Docs is definitely the easiest, and I've used it from time to time. Give that a go and see how you like it. I've never been satisfied with the other alternatives; Word itself is an incredibly powerful program and it's hard to find something that matches its capabilities.
