Age of Diagnosis

Actually you are allowed to be 100% sure for the rest of your life. I just said to my self. I like it. This answers enough. I am just going to assume it is correct. :). Basically as a response to every other confersation, am im, or am i not. ;)

My mom had suspicions most of my life, but never pursued it for good reasons. I came onto a self-diagnosis at 24.

I heard of this whole Asperger's Syndrome just a few months back when I was 39.
I've seen so far one doctor, who told me I don't have it.
Then I have only agoraphobia, social phobia, paranoia, selective mutism and some other stuff.
Anyways, I'm going to have a second opinion.
I have to say, he was like 29 years old, so I'm not really surprised that he couldn't see the signs, he's like a decade younger than me. I understand that it can be hard to diagnose someone at my age, but then I need a professional with some experience.

It sounds very frustrating. I hope that you're able to find someone who will actually help with the diagnosis.

21, after depression treatment didn't do anything over the course of a year of therapy and the psych had to start looking someplace else

Out of curiosity, at what age were you diagnosed with autism or Asperger's? I was diagnosed rather late at least it seems late from what I've been told, at age 19, and this has created some difficulties in treatment, it was hard finding a doctor willing to test me, then even harder to find one to begin treatment as from what I hear it's usually diagnosed much earlier.

There were a number of factors responsible for my late diagnosis, most prominently a small grade school without the resources to address such an issue, did anybody else have an unusually late diagnosis?

I was diagnosed at age 45. It was a difficult road to get here but I am grateful to have found some stability again, with a job I can do competently and good social and family support.

I was officially diagnosed at 36, but wish it'd been sooner. I wouldn't have felt like I was such a weirdo around other people.

I was around six or seven when I was diagnosed autistic. We went to a bunch of specialists in Kentucky, I think it was. Then we came back home and talked to my regular psychiatrist, who switched me over to aspergers, mainly, I believe, for the reason that aspergers had more prestige (not what he said, obviously, but it was the real underlying reason)
