Acting Out Daydreams

I daydream a lot. But sometimes I find myself sort of acting out my daydreams. Like, I imagine myself gesturing a certain way, and I do it in real life too. My facial expressions match what they would be in my daydream. If I imagine myself signing something in ASL, I might sign it in real life too.

Anyone else get carried away by their daydreams like this, or is it just me?

Yeah, i do that also. Sometimes i talk to myself about my favorite story or tv show and imagine telling someone about it.

Yep. Then people want to know what I'm smiling/laughing about etc and I never want to tell them. I had letters sent home from school about my "inappropriate" facial expressions too.

I daydream/space out while thinking a lot. Sometimes I unintentionally make facial expressions, gestures, or mumble things and people will ask me if I'm okay. lol

Acting out my daydreams was my favourite game when I was little. And yes, I still do it from time to time. It's kind of nice, always makes me nostalgic. If I'm deep in thoughts, I won't realise I'm moving or smiling, or scowling. The same happens when I read fiction.

Actually, I wasn't aware that other people do it as well. It's kind of a relief, makes you feel less weird for unwinding in this way. I wonder if it could be considered a kind of a stim?
