Twante, Myanmar

Twante is a small village across the river from Yangon, Myanmar’s largest city. They have been making pottery there in the same way for 600 years. (Sorry about the image quality. The first is a frame-grab from a video, and both were taken inside the pottery, a thatched hut with no internal light sources.) The young woman is spinning the wheel by hand while the old man shapes the pot. The kiln is wood-fired, though a mix with bamboo is used to increase the kiln temperature.
