5 planet alignment

I am awake most mornings from around 3.30 am, and have been seeing a very bright star , alongside a crumbly golden slice of the moon that's much bigger than the very bright star. I think the star may in fact be several planets that I can't distinguish separately with just my glasses on, I would possibly need a telescope. It's awesome though.

I don't understand something. The Link says:

"Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn will be visible every morning until the end of June in an alignment not seen since 1864.

Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn have lined up in a rare alignment that won't occur again until 2040, according to AccuWeather."

The last time was around 150 years ago and the next time is 8 years. Is that right? I would have guessed it would occur at regular intervals. I think maybe I know nothing about how these things work. :D
