In the interest of continuing to plod along, I finally made the call to Pennsylvania's Office of Vocational Rehabilitation for an initial telephone screen. Preliminarily, I qualify for some state assistance so an application will be mailed out to me. I feel ****** for using this service because I'm all about making it on my own but I guess there is strength in knowing when to ask for help. I'm human and error prone and used to look down on people using these assistance services as gaming the system. Sure there are some that do, but most are earnest and the councilor I spoke with was wonderfully understanding, positive, and encouraging. I told her that I desperately want to be a productive member of society and she said, "With our help and your hard work, we can make it happen." Earlier I wrote that I felt being an adult was better than being a child and boy was I wrong. Being an adult is tough work.
