  • I constantly have to remind people that even though Kodi, Chesca, and Hex look really adorable and cuddly, Dogo Argentinos are a breed that is only for experienced working dog owners and I would not sell a puppy to just anyone. They will ruin your life if you don't know how to train them. They can be friendly and tolerant with proper socialization, but they are dominant and stubborn and have a mind of their own.

The thing I like about trainers is that regardless of their methods and knowledge they respect each other's work and don't say only their way is the way. They're open minded and flexible and that's really doing a lot for their work and understanding.

What I dislike about some breeders is that they require every buyer to put the puppy into dog shows just because the parents have been champions. But some puppies grow to not be social or very friendly with the pats they are required to get, and may have mental issues. So it's counter-intuitive to put it into such an environment.

:screamcat: my goodness, I don't think the bull terrier's harness is working in the right way. He's supposed to be the one pulling lol

And why is he getting his hooman slaves to dress him while he's home. He wants to look good lazy?
I had the artist who made my profile banner go back and fix a few details and I think I like it a lot better!

I asked him to add my other two breeds (Newfoundland and Portuguese Podengo) since there was just the Dogo Argentino and Pointer on there. I also had him fix the tails on the Pointer doing Agility and the one hunting, because their tails were too short and they looked like GSPs, not English Pointers!

I also like the addition of the gaiting dogs, you can see the different gaits that all of these breeds have! The determined but elegant trot that Pointers have is my favorite.
What kind of neurological issues cause like a prickling or pins and needles feeling on skin? I think I mentioned before that my hands and feet, and arms and legs go "dead" or fall asleep a lot. But I also get kind of prickly feelings on my skin that almost feel like something is crawling on me. I'm diagnosed with fibromyalgia but I'm wondering if something else can do this? It's definitely neuro not psychological

The liver is a biochemical factory and any chemical of the proper stereochemistry , refined or not, makes no difference to the liver. In cellular biochemistry, the origin of a chemical does not influence metabolic reactions, except by its concentration.

I am willing to be convinced. But this is not the time nor the venue to argue when I just want to see a person I value get the best information possible. I have had a hard year medically and understand the importance of feeling whole and secure in one's health and want to see Luca secure in her health.

Looking at your friendly dog I would never have noticed. I just see the bond between you two. I was so happy when my cat Mew, who is usually aloof would visit me when I was recovering from COVID. I enjoy it when she isn't expressing her Aspie personality.

Now I have a 65-pound dog (Enzo) literally sitting in my lap. They're all weird tonight. I think it is actually a full moon though, and I know that sounds like a joke but I have heard from multiple professional dog trainers that it's not. Mine aren't werewolves or anything lol but they get loopy sometimes.

I literally saw once in the trainstation how a big dog pulled the little woman behind him lol. that was very funny. the dog was much stronger than the woman. she had no chance lol.

is that a reason why you only have little/light dogs? : D

I actually have all big dogs except for one! Lol
My dog just stole a pillow off of the couch, flipped it upside down, and put it back. Dogs are weird, and smarter than people think.
Never mind, I figured it out lol

I thought that if I clicked on "chat," it would take me to a main public chat page, and for once I kind of had social anxiety lol. I was like "Aah! No! I'm too private for that!"
Does anyone know how to access personal private chat messages? I figured out how to use the private chat but I'm having trouble accessing it without going through notifications. I'm so confused lol
My biggest pet peeve is when parents let their small children run up to dogs and grab them without knowing if the dog is friendly or not. This happened with Hex and Enzo yesterday and they absolutely love kids they know, but don’t tolerate being grabbed by random kids, and they snapped at the kid because I could not stop her from running right towards them and grabbing their faces. I hate humans.

Pointers and Dogo Argentinos are also both pretty standoffish and reserved breeds and are protective of their owners, and are good watchdogs. Not everyone is immediately their best friend. They will respect you if you respect them.

I don’t think I’ve completely gotten into legit misanthrope territory yet, but most of the people I encounter really drive me nuts. That would be a great name for a roller derby girl or a drag queen tho! Lol
My doctor's appointment was kind of frustrating. They think stress is making one of my already existing conditions worse, and they just increased the dose of one of my meds. I feel like something more than that is going on but I don't know if I'll ever know :/ But fortunately I don't have lupus.

Possibly. I could be wrong but I have a hard time believing it’s just stress. But a lot of doctors are really dismissive of women so I don’t know.

I just posted a video in the "what is your pet doing" thread, but wanted to provide a pic of this incredibly intense point from earlier today.
Pointers are amazing. He stood frozen on point like that for several seconds. I have some better quality photos from my camera and will post some as soon as I've processed them!

Remember when I made a thread complaining about one of my dogs' breeders on here? Well, she published an article that had a paragraph in it that was very blatantly taking a jab at me and my kennel, and even referenced the fact that I have a dog with a health defect that I am still competing in shows with (I'm not going to be breeding this dog, so it doesn't matter, she can still be shown.) I'm livid right now.

Yeah, as long as it's not a threat or something crazy you can pretty much talk whatever kind of trash you want in the US, as well as take pictures of anything / anyone in a public area. In some ways that's great, but there are always going to be people who overstep a little bit

@Luca ok. at least. but still not nice.
I'm on my computer doing work, and Enzo decided I was ignoring him so he jumped onto the couch and dropped a toy on my keyboard. Lol
He's such a smart dog that I forget he's a dog sometimes. He just seems like some other type of being. Not a human either, just an intelligent life form, lol

that´s how I think you see your dogs. not as animals, more like friends. that you try to interact and see them more on the same level with you. I think your profile picture illustrates that.

I am convinced that dogs have an innate understanding of us. We have been partners since glaciers covered the North. Cats, on the other hand, are recent. They have developed attention meows that sound like a bawling infant to get our attention. If that doesn't work, everything becomes a toy.

Like I tend to say, their culture and the way they process the world differently than us, through senses that we don't have the first, it's like a different species, the aliens we have on Earth.
Finally just got treatment and left, after waiting for almost 10 hours. Sigh…
He is also stranger-reactive so I had to muzzle him and restrain him so he wouldn’t attempt any funny business with the vet. I’m tired.

Yeah, he hates going to the vet. He hid under that chair the whole time.
The emergency vet is a 4 hour wait. I told them Enzo’s ear infection is urgent because they couldn’t take him yesterday, and they still won’t prioritize us even though it’s pretty bad. I’m not having a good day

    Is it topical or oral?
I had to put goo in my cat's ears for two weeks, twice a day.

Didn't know there was any problem, but when he went in for a routine
check up, they swabbed his ears, and said he had an infection.
    Lou Laurinen
    Lou Laurinen
    It’s topical.

Ear infections aren’t uncommon in dogs and cats. They’re especially common in long-eared hunting dogs.
If my physical health gets any worse I'm going to have a complete mental breakdown. I don't know if I can wait until my appointment on Friday.
