  • So, with the vinegar I had, I mixed it with some cooking oil and some left over red dye, and now I have three layers of fluid in my glass. Science is so cool!
The hardest part of making the volcano is convincing the others that I'm using red food dye responsibly (at least they care, I guess).

It's technically harmful to ingest so perhaps your volcano replica is actually a better use for it.😅
As I was making the volcano, the clump of change in my pocket fell into soda can (Sprite mind you), and now they're shinier than ever.

That means Sprite is an acid. Acids eat oxides - oxides (rust) tarnish reactive metals.
Note to self: Never mix bleach with vinegar (the gases nearly knocked me out).

@tree is bleach + rubbing alcohol painful? Which of these makes someone pass out the longest?

Chlorine (bleach) can be a very dangerous chemical, almost anything you do with it gives off highly toxic gases and the damage this causes to your lungs and air passages is often excruciatingly painful as well. Don't play around with it indoors.

I had someone with me (I never do things with chemicals alone), and the local clinic said I'll be fine, and not to try any more experiments.
Well, I mixed some baking soda in some pond water (it finally rained again), and the bacteria just stopped moving.

Have ever watched Microbe Hunter on youtube? You might enjoy this guy:

    He sounds fun.
Under the microscope, toothpaste looks rough (I use Crest), and some parts were glowing with the light.

Most antiperspirants contain metal, I wonder if you can see that. Aluminium oxide, almost the same product we use to make cement.
So, I looked at some hair conditioner under the microscope...I'm surprised that it's crystallized, much like a solid.
Comparing a fresh apple and rotting apple, the rotten has more...fungi, and bacteria, so...make sure to check which apple you're eating.

If you're exposed to all these things during your formative years then they'll be mostly harmless to you. It's babies that are raised in sterile worlds with limited exposure to a wide range of foods that end up with allergies and little resistance to diseases.
Mercury looks really beautiful under the microscope. Very shiny due to the light.

It is such a neat element, isn't it?

I'm sure you know this, but you have to be careful with liquid mercury since it is very toxic and can also contaminate whatever surfaces it comes into contact with. Just a FYI for the forum.

For a second there I thought you were talking about the planet lol
So, I went to pool, and collected some water (chlorinated), and put it in some pond water. The bacteria stopped moving instantly. So, you probably won't get sick from the pool (at least not from bacteria).

I'm double unlikely to get sick from a pool because I never go to pools.😅
I did play in a small pool in the yard of a summer when I was little and was in a bit larger of a pool in other's yards at least twice way back then, but that was years ago.

I haven't been in a pool in over a decade (possibly 2 decades 🤔) unless you count the time a few years ago when we had a small pool for our then new husky puppies to play in and I briefly sat down in it with them for a photo. It was summer so getting my jeans and shirt soaked wasn't a problem.
I looked at some herbs I found in the cabinet, and they...look like plants under the microscope. It's strange that they still looked fully formed instead of chopped up.
