I think that I was probably coming up with my own experiments since before even starting school. I can remember getting all excited one year about discovering something and then learning about it later that year or the next year in school.

When I was about 9 or 10, I remember crumbling a bunch of pollen into a jar of water and testing to see when and if it would support the weight of a small plastic toy.
