    This morning around 5am local time I sprayed nest killer in the pipe then watched the inside end (the end taped with paper and duck tape) to see how the wasps tried to escape. I caught 8 of them, and plugged the gaps in the cables the best I could with duck tape. The nest made a very LOUD buzzing sound for 15min until it finally died.

    I found the wasp nest. It's in the short pipe where all the cables come into my house. I have it blocked off with paper from a bag and duck tape, for this reason, but the wasps nested in it and found a hole. I blocked the hole with duck tape, and today I will buy foaming nest killer. After that and ripping out the nest, I will spray bifenthrin in there.

    I think I have a wasp nest in a wall somewhere. I keep seeing them even though I blocked all the ways I thought they were getting in. They haven't stung me yet though.

    There's a great insecticide you can buy that works well called Bifenthrin - biferrous nitrate. It's a 30 day surface spray that completely breaks down over that time. As it breaks down it gives off a gas that is toxic to insects but safe for mammals. Unkind to caged birds though. If sprayed in to enclosed spaces such as wall cavities the gas will stay trapped inside for years.

    Bifenthrin is also great for ant nests, just squirt a little down the hole and the whole nest gets wiped out. I have no idea what brand names it will be marketed under in your country though. It looks expensive but you dilute it 100:1 before use.

    McCloud, Cal., is near Mt. Shasta and was once a huge logging company town, complete with three hotels to house execs of various companies doing business in the town and row after row of identical houses for employees. The town is still inhabited and kept up relatively well. I need to take pics of it sometime.

    I was in Sacramento all last week trying to get my new Cummins generator repaired. The tech said it was burning oil but had no clue why. When I realized that the parts for the service wouldn't be in til the end of this week I drove home. I am not spending another week in that dump of a city.

    Better to turn them in to the local cops. Mandatory $1000 fine in California. Oregon is better though, their mandatory fine is $6250. I have no idea as to the isdentity of these jerks sadly.

    I went out acorn hunting this morning and got a good number of them. The spot I chose only had a few oak trees, but there was a huge one that had just dropped most of its acorns.

    Acorns have to "cure" over the winter, preferably in a warm, dry place. Some of the Karuk People put them in a metal bucket next to their woodstoves. I don't have that luxury, but I have an idea of where I can store them.

    I want to make my planned pilgrimage to Camp Tulelake near Klamath Falls, Oregon, before the wet season. It was notorious in its time-it is where "troublesome" Japanese American prisoners were sent during the WW2 internment. This meant Japanese who refused to swear allegiance to the US govt and/or were "incorrigible" elsewhere.

    I am building an enclosure to keep the gasoline (petrol) cans for my generator out of direct sunlight, since excessive heat makes gasoline expand and gas cans in the US have no pressure release valves.

    Use old pallets or something to get them up off the ground while you're at it, Where they sit on the ground is where they usually start rusting out. Plastic ones are no good in my climate, UV light makes the plastic go brittle and it cracks.

    I have had a thought that possibly the reason why people have perceived me as "stupid" or "retarded" (among similar labels) all my life is because of my cognitive impairments. It's like trying to get a car to move with an engine but no transmission. I can't interact well within common society, so I wound up as a pariah.

    There is a fire burning on the other side of the ridge between the valley I live in and Ager Beswick Road. Fortunately the breeze is light and blowing the fire away from me. I can hear the Cal Fire helicopters flying overhead as they swoop down to dump water. 5pm Pacific time 14 August.

    Why do I keep longing for a female partner when I like my life exactly as it is? I don't want a woman who is either just short of insane or who wants to "fix" me.     Found this at an estate sale in Callahan, California, on 9 August. It's a barometer//temperature/humidity readout probably from the late 60s when such things were popular. I love how it looks-very much the professional side of the late 60s.

    Lack of formal air conditioning is really starting to get to me, even though it has been cooler than normal. I can't sleep more than a few hours and am constantly tired. Having to rely on a generator during summers is definitely not what I thought I was signing up for.

    In the Reno-Tahoe Metropolitan area I'd be in BIG trouble without central air conditioning. Even then I still can't afford to run it 24/7. Worse even when I consider living in past Northern California micro-climates.

    When I was living in the tropics all I had was a fan, and one of these little pools. Thoroughly recommended. On really hot nights you can have a quick dip in the middle of the night and then go straight to bed still wet with the fan on.

    The plant shown is actually star thistle, invasive to the area. We have a form of sagebrush here that locals call "bristlebrush" but that's not what this is.

    I finally have a replacement generator. Turns out I didn't read the manual and did stuff it says not to do and blew the engine. Kept my mouth shut at Harbor Freight and got an exchange for a new generator.
