  • Y’know, for all the things my ex took from me, something they left with me was their arachnophobia. Turns out being in a relationship with an arachnophobic person for a while can turn someone’s mild ick with spiders into a full-blown fear of them.

Worst though is that I still refuse to kill them. I always either hope they scurry off back to where I can’t see them, but if they don’t I have to knuckle down and catch them to let them outside. Ugh. I was already not sleeping and now I’m DEFINITELY not sleeping. Second bug anxiety bedtime mishap this week.

Bug anxiety bedtime mishap is a great description. The spiders here aren't physically dangerous, but they are still a hazard to my mental health. I used to naively think we didn't have spiders that big in Scotland... Oh wow was I wrong!
I wish I could get cans of Coca Cola that went flat already, I like the flavor of the drink but not how intense the carbonation is (CC has one of the worst fizz imo)

I love me some flat Coke too.. also when it comes to Coke bottles, I thoroughly shake it and wait before opening to get the nice flat taste.

    Marginally related.
(It mentions coca cola syrup. The base for making coca cola. Plus proportions and degrees of carbonation.)

Today is the annual neighborhood block party, and as usual I will be subjected to a giant music speaker across the street from my house (in the middle of the block) blasting pop music from the past 4 decades. It starts off loud, and then it’ll get louder later tonight when the dance party starts. “Can’t wait” (sarcasm) for the inevitable Cha Cha Slide in front later. I don’t hate the music, but it’s so loud.
Been trying to reply to people’s forum posts today but my replies always end up too long and then I re-read it and think “…nah, nobody is going to want to read this” and then delete before posting. Would like to stop second guessing myself, but I’d hate to be right about my worries and end up saying something that people are overwhelmed or intimidated by. I always seem to throw myself into a catch-22.

Of course l wouldn't suggest an actual bus. The message is don't fear failure, it's what helps us become better writers, better comedians, better partners, better employees, better cooks. Your biggest critic is yourself.

It's also called self sabotage, where you set yourself up for failure, because you don't feel worthy of success.

@Luc Ienn I was exactly like this when I first joined here. Some of my posts are definitely weird, controversial, or way too long, but I’ve been pretty accepted here, for the most part. But however long it takes you to get comfortable is perfectly okay! It’s a learning experience.
Can’t sleep because I had a bedbug scare. It’s not a bedbug thankfully! It was a carpet beetle. But it’s made it impossible for me to relax now. Real glad that it flexed its wings for me to see (bedbugs can’t fly or jump), otherwise I’d be in a lot worse of a mental state right now. I’ve had bedbugs once in the past and it was traumatic.

That must have been pretty rough. I don't like carpet beetles either but I am glad you don't have bugs!

I understand your pain! I thought I found a flea on my dog and even though it wasn’t, now every speck that moves is a flea in my mind. Can’t relax.

@Rodafina It’s amazing how tiny little critters can upset folk so easily…honestly ticks me off!

uh, pun not intended but I’ll own it.
