Do any other people on here with ASD scare easily?

I agree- I think that's what happens to me too.

Do any other people on here with ASD scare easily?

True, I do try to prepare myself for the worst, but when I'm alone, and it's quiet, and I'm highly focused on something I'm reading or working on, and someone comes up behind me out of nowhere and loudly says "hello!!" or says my name loudly I tend to gasp and jump several feet!!!

Do any other people on here with ASD scare easily?

I scare really easily. I'm very easy to sneak up on. People at work and at home unintentionally sneak up on me and scare me because I don't know they're approaching. It really freaks me out. They always apologize but I'm sure they think it's really weird. I think it's because I'm always lost in...

should I be concerned over lack of concern?

My sense of empathy is highly variable. I generally don't care much one way or the other for most adult strangers. If I don't know them, I have trouble feeling any compassion or caring over their fate. I don't really feel sad when old people die. It's not that I wish anyone harm, I'm just...

    Multiple Obsessions/Hobbies/Interests

Most of my interests have stayed constant since I was a little girl. There are times when I spend time thinking about/pursuing some topics more than others. They are: - Pretty much all science. My favorite topics in science are geology, astronomy, anthropology/human evolution, genetics, and...

    Strategy Games

I don't play video games except word and trivia games on my phone, but my son loves this strategy game called Hearts of Iron IV. It's a World War I/World War II themed game. It is pretty interesting. You get to pick a country and basically try to take over the world. My son is obsessed with...

Why ask a complete stranger how they're doing? Just me?

I used to be a cashier. I'm a very shy person though. We were trained to always ask customers how they are doing. Of course, it's not really sincere, it's just something I had to say that became robotic. Most of the time I wasn't even thinking about the person or how they were. Usually people...

Do other women on the spectrum have trouble dating

I agree that I am probably better off alone as well. Weirdly I don't get obsessive or clingy with people unless I'm in a romantic relationship. In platonic relationships I'm like you- needing lots of freedom. For some reason, my brain just can't process romantic feelings normally. I don't really...

    Verbal IQ

Weirdly enough my verbal IQ is my greatest strength. It's 140, which my psychologist said is one of the highest he's seen. I'm really proud of my verbal ability, I consider it my "aspie superpower". My nicknames in high school were "encyclopedia" and "dictionary" because of my ability to...

    Autism and Willpower

I have virtually no willpower. Especially when it comes to food. My meds make me very hungry and hunger is a sensation that I absolutely detest. I have always been a very picky eater. I cannot force myself to eat things I don't like, it literally makes me sick. I don't really like most meats and...

I want to receive criticism better

I love your profile pic!! So cute. I have a pretty bad temper, I always have. I get really defensive and angry about any kind of criticism also. I take things very personally. It has caused me problems at jobs and school because if someone corrects me I tend to get very snippy with them. I...

Most messed up/Disturbing Movie You Ever Saw?

The Green Mile The Shape of Water Hereditary It Comes at Night A Cure For Wellness All of these films left me feeling traumatized and mentally scarred. There is another one called Cannibal Holocaust which I hear is really bad. I haven't seen it and wouldn't watch it. My teenage son watched it...

Do other women on the spectrum have trouble dating

I haven't been in a romantic/sexual relationship in about 12 years. My problem is not that I am not attentive enough with partners, it's that I am overly clingy, jealous, possessive, and obsessive. It pushes people away. I tend to fall in love very easily/quickly, and once I do, that person...

    HATRED FOR ALL OF SOCIETY

I feel like this too sometimes. Human beings are a cruel and violent species. The majority of humans (though not all) pretty much suck.
