I have to not take what they do personally

Well, it's nice to know I'm not the only person struggling with this issue. I'm not proud of it, but having Asperger's combined with other issues (including childhood abuse and depression), I simply don't think about it, and as you've noted, perhaps don't even notice it myself. Don't get me...

I have to not take what they do personally

I have found that with sensory processing disorder (which seems to go hand-in-hand with ASD / Asperger's), it's really hard NOT to take things like this personally. I think it's hard for others, even ND or other ASD variants, to understand what an assault on the senses certain things really are...

Does anyone on here like heavy metal?

I've only ever really heard "Cult of Personality" by Living Colour, but they had a great sound.

Text adventures: Mind-strengthening books disguised as playable adventures

An FYI for those with older machines that are limited in upgrade capabilities... One of the games I play bloated to the point of dragging my entry-level graphics card, memory and storage to a near-crawl. Granted, I caught some good deals that were on sale, but with an already reasonably quick...

What is the possibility of somebody with ASD to get a job as a pilot?

Which reminds me... Is it possible for SPD or ASD to cause what might seem like air sickness when it's really SPD making you sick from the sensory issues? I ask because I was extremely sick for three days after my first commercial flight... No sooner had I recovered than we had to come back...

Does anyone on here like heavy metal?

I love a great many kinds of music (even jazz), but while I'm a fan of most older mainstream heavy metal, I'm a bit discerning in my tastes in regard to bands. My first taste of hard rock was Guns N' Roses in the 1980s, and around the time I made a new friend my freshman year of high school...

Text adventures: Mind-strengthening books disguised as playable adventures

Interesting. I guess I could see where it might help cut down on sensory processing disorder for those who find images overwhelming. I just wasn't aware anyone still made them. As an aside, I write fiction and had considered turning one of my short stories into a comic book series, something...

Text adventures: Mind-strengthening books disguised as playable adventures

They still make text adventures? I never really played any. First PC game I ever really played was an animated adventure game, King's Quest III, part of one of several "Quest" series games (Space Quest, King's Quest, Police Quest, Hero's Quest) by Sierra On-Line, a now-defunct company that sold...

    The stupid... It BURNS....

I like the way you think... :D True. I figure it's better to argue them to a standstill, then let their ignorance speak for itself against being called out. It's easy enough for anyone to see them showing their true colors, and hopefully make an educated decision about whether to associate with...

(Partial / Reduced) Sensory Processing Disorder and ASD / Asperger's?

Sorry to bolster your fears, but this one is actually quite valid. Some smaller sharks have been showing up in places they aren't usually found as of late. I think, however, you're quite safe in water below your chest. I was going to add this to the original post, but since it is pertinent to...

What shows did you love to watch when you came home from School?

Bravestar, a cartoon version of Police Academy, The Dukes Of Hazzard, Knight Rider, MTV (when the M meant music, not Morons), The Jeffersons, The Facts Of Life (had puppy-love crushes on those girls), Hey Dude, and some others I forget the titles of from Nickelodeon... I also watched a lot of...

Don't know what to do with my life

I have similar RAADS-R scores (same test, if I'm not mistaken) and I'm pretty sure I have Asperger's (lumped into DSM-V) -- you might try the Aspie quiz to see if you have Asperger's as well -- it certainly seems so. If you are into gaming, depending on your abilities in video editing and such...
